The Mayo Clinic Biobank…”A Bank that Gives Back.”  This is how journalists affiliated with the National Press Foundation  described the biobank facility after their recent tour.  Twenty health reporters visited the Biobank to learned about issues surrounding precision medicine.  Biobank co-director Dr. Stephen Thibodeau explained how this facility provides  ‘one-stop shopping’ as samples are collected, managed, and stored with patient history under one roof, which aids research.   They discovered the vast resources available to support researchers in government, academia and private industry.  The facility is also unique because a significant portion of samples are from healthy individuals. These can serve as a control population for thousands of studies.  See inside the Mayo Clinic Biobank  for more details on their visit.
